Designing a High Functioning Multipurpose Area: Pantry, Laundry, Mudroom
To really make the space work for us, I have picked out a slate colored Italian porcelain hexagon tile that should hold up well to muddy boots and trails of snow. What I'm super excited about are the Kenzzi Zoudia tiles that I hope to install for the backsplash behind the laundry sink and appliances. Speaking of appliances, I've picked out an eco-friendly and efficient top-loading set from Whirlpool.
I have been trying to reduce, reuse, and recycle many of the purchases for the home (such as the Hex tiles, which I purchased from the Habitat for Humanity Restore) but, for appliances I decided to go new to be as energy efficient as possible, in a gun metal gray that will hopefully work well with all of the other grays and whites. Those colors should work well with the bright shade of blue that I'm pulling from the vintage high school lockers I'll be repurposing as pantry shelves.
Currently, I am in search of a bright white paint that will reflect a lot of light but with no yellow undertones. Let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite white that you recommend.
